Thankfulness tinged with sadness

Yesterday we had a meal with someone who has become a good friend during our first year here in France. We’ve enjoyed having meals with him alongside some really good conversations. The sad part is that we will probably not see him again for some time as he is leaving Paris for pastures new in a few weeks. The thankful part comes with the fact that we were able to get to know him, and also that he’s moving on to good things and learning about another different culture.

Today we’re glad to have a visit from our son and his girlfriend for a few days and, as it coincided with Bryony’s birthday, there was of course cake which is always worth giving thanks for!
